Pleased to meet you.
I was born in Seoul, Korea, raised right across the George Washington Bridge in Northern NJ, and have been living in New York for over a decade. I was heavily influenced by hiphop in the 90βs and lived on the periphery of street or documentary style photography, skateboarding and graffiti. I studied journalism before I found design and have enjoyed every moment of its evolution since.
I currently in Brooklyn, NY with my loving husband and adorable (suspected) former bodega cat, Ibi.

π» I have 16 years across industries and disciplines from agencies, e-commerce, start-ups and ed tech. I can zoom out and in and see how projects scale. All of my background helps me continue to do what I love - product design. I love user experience design, π end-to-end strategy and implementation planning, ποΈ design systems for all industries (education, product and marketing teams)
π I can pivot, learn what I donβt know quickly, build bridges cross-functionally, wear many hats, but β canβt eat scallions.
Today I am a design lead, manager, and sometimes educator with 16 years experience across industries and disciplines. I am also a design systems person and advocate.
Recent Projects Include: Building/designing/writing a UIUX Curriculum, concept design for a next-gen learning platform, lead in creating two design systems, and directing design and strategy for B2B and B2C experiences.I find my joy in strategy, π§οΈ vision πΆοΈ and planning for implementation π οΈ of projects. I aim to be a lead who knows how to do and learn as much as I can direct. I work with an open-mind to welcome ideas from anyone, practice empathy for all and enjoy collaborating to create meaningful work. I also β€οΈοΈ creating processes for efficient workflow and building bridges across teams.
-
My management style is someone who advocates for cross-team collaboration, can balance user and business goals to meet deadlines β±οΈ, and has a people-first leadership approach.
I have an empathetic, growth-mindset and come to cross-functional teams with humility and excitement to learn together.
-
β¨οΈ I currently serve on the AIGA NY Board of Directors as a Co-Lead for the programming team, have worked with Asian Creative Foundation in community building, spoke at Girls Who Code, and a 4-summer veteran of the wonderful ITP Camp.
Non-Industry Related: I am a hyphen π°π· πΊπΈ, I have a new found love for duck π¦π³ bowling, and have a strong aversion to raw onions. Most of my memories are through smell ππ», and the latest show I am watching is What We Do in the Shadows on Hulu.
